Roxanne Guinoo wants to prove that she deserves the break that ABS-CBN is giving her

Star Circle Quest alumna Roxanne Guinoo has definitely gone a long, long way. Starting out as a shy newbie lingering behind the shadows of more popular SCQ contemporaries like Sandara Park and Hero Angeles, Roxanne steadily and gradually inched her way to the top.

Today, both Sandara and Hero's luster have faded while Roxanne's star shines brighter than ever. Patience is indeed a virtue.

"Kaya sobrang thankful din ako kasi narating ko man ‘to, talagang hinirap ko naman po talaga, naghintay," said Roxanne to The Buzz host Boy Abunda yesterday, June 1.

Roxanne's guesting coincides with the anniversary of ABS-CBN's talent arm Star Magic. As a tribute, The Buzz invited nine of the biggest Star Magic talents. Roxanne's inclusion in the guest list only affirmed her stature as one of the network's most prized possession.

An observation not lost even to Boy himself.

"Masaya po kasi hindi ko din po in-expect na gaya kanina, kasama ko na ‘yong mga prinsesa ng Star Magic," smiled the lead star of the afternoon soap Ligaw na Bulaklak. Roxanne was referring to the special presentation of Star Magic artists on ASAP '08.

"Talagang worth it naman talaga ‘yong hirap 'tsaka paghihintay ko, so kailangan ko ding i-prove sa sarili ko na deserving ako."

Boy brought up some people's observation saying that Roxanne might be the heir apparent to some of Star Magic's more established stars, like Claudine Barretto for example.

"Is that pressure to you?" inquired Boy.

MENDING A BROKEN HEART. Before Roxanne's interview, it was revealed that the young actress is currently immersing herself with "moving on" songs. It is no secret of course that Roxanne just recently broke up with hunky actor Jake Cuenca.

The breakup is a public knowledge. But the reason behind the separation is not clear except to the two parties directly involved.

Talking about closure and ending the relationship amicably, Roxanne said, "Nagkaroon naman po ng chance na makapag-usap kami. Basta kung ano man ‘yon, gaya ng sinabi ko, kung ano ‘yong mga rason niya, kahit ano pa ‘yan, maintindihan ko man ‘yan o hindi, iintindihan ko 'yan no matter what... iintindihan ko kahit ano pa ‘yong rason na ‘yon."

It was a bitter breakup, acknowledged Roxanne, but she stressed that she has nothing bad to say against her ex-flame nor to the relationship as a whole.

"Inalagaan po ako ni Jake," she confided. "Puro happy moments talaga. Less ‘yong mga [sad moments]. Kaya masakit. ‘Yon ‘yong masakit kasi masaya, e. Kumbaga, ang daming questions sa utak ko ba't ganoon, ba't ganoon?"

At this point, Roxanne admitted juggling work and play—both, as it turned out, helps take her mind off the heartache.

"Nae-enjoy ko 'yong lumalabas with friends, mga party friends," beamed Roxanne.

As for her punishing work schedule, she's not one to complain etiher: "Okay na ‘yon, kaysa walang trabaho."
