HOT! The stellar cast of the highly-anticipated Philippine version of the hit Colombian telenovela “Betty La Fea” were finally revealed last night. Let’s take a peek shall we?



To the tune of “Hey Betty You are Beautiful” by Mika, the final cast of Betty La Fea were finally introduced by Toni Gonzaga. The sneak peek was inserted minutes ago between gaps of My Girl.

Star Magic birthday boys ang girls for June

Eyeball with the nine birthday boys ang girls of ABS-CBN Star Magic for June!

Andi Eigenmann
Born from a family of great actors, Andi Eigenmann is one of the next rising star. She was first seen as Sandy in Prinsesa ng Banyera and as a house player in the recent PBB Season 2. She was supposed to stay for two weeks inside PBB house but became so sad so she decided to leave the house. This mestiza young lady was welcomed by Star Magic and she was overwhelmed by the treatment given to her by her newest Kapamilya. Andi who turned 18 years old will hold a party at their subdivision’s clubhouse. Andi requested her guests to where black, white and gray outfits while she will be the only one wearing red gown. Her party will not be the usual debut as it will just be simple with family and high school friends. Andi is planning to enroll next semester in College of St. Benilde where she isplanning to take up Fashion Design but she plans to transfer in University of the Philippines to take up Fine Arts after a year. She really loves sketching abstracts and people. This Lactacyd endorser is also into basketball and swimming. Andi is very determined to lose weight which is why she regularly goes to the gym. She celebrated her birthday last June 25.

Gretchen Fullido
Being Colgate Trip Kita’s First Runner-Up opened doors for Gretchen Fullido to be one of the contract artists of Star Magic. Even if she has a busy schedule, she still managed to finish college and recently graduated in UP Diliman with a Bachelor Degree in Film and Audio Visual Communication. Known for her hosting abilities, Gretchen is the newest Star Patroller for TV Patrol World. She also did Police Beat for Umagang Kay Ganda aside from ABS-CBN’s primetime news program. She can also be seen daily in Dateline Philippines day, 12nn at ANC where she is a showbiz anchor, writer anD weather girl. After Dateline, she also hosts for On the Scene from 2-3 pm and DZMM Sports Talk every Saturday. A lot of projects are in store for this refreshing talent who has been with Star Magic for years already. It is all worth the wait for Gretchen as she turned 24 last June 4.

Gemmae Custodio
Gemmae Custodio is one of the resident artists of Star Magic. She has done numerous guestings such as Buttercup and Maalaala Mo Kaya and movies like Kulimlim and I Will Survive. She is very happy to have worked with the Diamond Star, Ms. Maricel Soriano in their movie under Star Cinema wherein she played as the Diamond Star’s niece. Gemmae is now a 6th grader in Our Lady of Lourdes School and wants to take up Dentistry in college. She also wants to be a recording artist someday. She celebrated her11th birthday last June 5 with family and friends.

Victor Basa
Coverboy Victor Basa is surely one of the rising stars in the pool of Kapamilya artists. This model-actor has done numerous guestings and is the current endorser of OraCare and Cosmetiderm of Dr. Manny and Pie Calayan. He has just finished his Your Song episode with Joross Gamboa wherein he portrayed a gay role. For someone who is known for his masculinity, Victor Basa did not have second thoughts of accepting the role and for a neophyte like him, found the role very challenging. He also did another Your Song episode where he was paired with Maja Salvador and Valeen Montenegro and played ballet dancer. This skateboarding enthusiast was recently nominated by the Enpress as Breakthrough Performance by an Actor for his performancein an indie film entitled Xenoa 2. This MTV VJ will soon be going abroad for the Coverboys concert tour. Victor had his first showbiz party in Dolce Bar last June 7 where all his Astigs co-stars where present. He turned 23 last June 6.

Zaira dela Pena
Another lady who was part of Star Circle Batch 13, Zaira dela Peña never had second thoughts of joining showbiz and is taking it one step at a time. A junior Tourism student of De La Salle Lipa, Zaira turned 19 last June 10. Although her studies take up most of her time, she manages to squeeze in guestings in ASAP, commercial shoots and acting stints in films, her last being Regal Films’ Love Is All That Matters. Recently, she did a music video with Sam Milby, something definitely to watch out for. Zaira is best remembered in Super Inggo were she played Jessa of Blusang Itim. She was very fortunate to have gotten the role because it helped her a lot in terms of acting.

Sophia Baars
At 8 years old, Sophia surely knows how to balance her career and studies. Having several endorsements, TV guestings, teleseryes and movies, she is still proud to be a regular student and is presently on her 3rd grade at Living Heritage Academy. Like other typical kids her age, she enjoys reading books, watching TV, role playing, singing and dancing. She also engages into sports like swimming and taekwando. Sophia is regularly seen in That’s My Doc wherein she plays the love interest of Bronson. She will also be seen in the upcoming teleserye Dyosa where she plays the young AnneCurtis. Moose Gear endorser Sophia celebrated her birthday last June 12.

Katrina “Hopia” Legaspi
Katrina Legaspi, famously known as “Hopia” is one of the talented stars in Star Magic. She was recognized for her funny antics and impersonation of Kris Aquino. From then on, she caught the attention of Goin’ Bulilit Director Bobot Mortiz and was chosen to be part of the regular cast for two and a half years. One of her memorable roles is when she played the young Kris Aquino in the teleserye Hiram because she considers it her first break in showbiz and another afternoon soap entitle Maid in Heaven. She was also part of the movie Princesa, an indie film produced by Cinema One Originals in 2007 wherein she played the role of a princess. She is currently dubbing for the upcoming First Digital Cartoon Movie in the Philippines entitled, Dayo. A second year high school student in School of St. Anthony in Lagro, she aims to finish her studies with a bachelor’s degree. She wants to be a director but for now, hopes to have more challenging roles that would form her to become a versatile actress like her favorite local celebrity, Sharon Cuneta. She celebrated her 14th birthday last June 13 with a mass and dinner with her family.

Aldred Gatchalian
One of Star Magic’s singers, Aldred Gatchalian was first known as one of the PBB teen housemates. He became a recording artist and one of the members of the group Trio with Aaron Agassi and Sam Concepcion in ASAP. He has guested in various shows such as Wowowee, Boy and Kris and many more. He was also part of Abt UR Luv, Ur Lyf 2 and Ysabella where he was paired with Valeen Montenegro. His first teleserye is truly memorable as he was able to work with the likes of Coney Reyes and Gina Pareño. Aldred is also an endorser of RRJ and RDL Facial Cleanser. He is pursuing his studies at the University of the Philippines Open University. With the other Star Magic celebrants, he will have a celebration in ASAP 08. Recently, Aldred won in the game shows Wheel of Fortune and Game Ka Na Ba?. He turned 18 last June 14.

Arno Morales
Star Magic 15 Arno Morales is lucky to have made in the cast of Abt Ur Luv Season 2. He completed the love triangle of Lauren Young and AJ Perez. From then on, viewers started to like him as the rich and humble Prince. A Crush ng Bayan in the making, Arno may seem like a serious guy but he actually knows how to make people laugh through his funny antics and looks forward to having a comedy show in the future. As of the moment, he is shooting a movie with Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz wherein he plays the brother of Sarah. Arno is currently a second year student at Maria Montessori and just turned 16 last June 14.

Talking Point: PDA is NOT “trivial”

think Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 is definitely not trivial! People are looking at it as very Pinoy Big Brother because we had our share of PBB for a very long time before PDA2. But the first season also had the chance to look into the scholars’ personal lives and their stories inside the Academy. PDA2 is a polished version of what the producer wants PDA to be--to capture the stories of several struggling artists in their desire to carve a name in the industry. I believe PDA2 always look out for a balance between the stories and how the students are being trained for the industry. Maybe the viewer reacted to the first few days of the Academy where the classes dwelled on the courses’ introduction, causing the stories took more time in the primetime show. In fact, the show has gone to the extent of explaining what each activity tries to accomplish in connection with the scholars’ training and development. Since the show covers the training’s personal and professional sides, it’s easy to mix things up. When they’re training, everybody’s properly dressed up and no splayed legs, right? Let’s put it this way: It shows the scholars’ strengths and the weaknesses as they struggle to become artists. And in doing so, PDA proves it’s a more exciting show and has better contestants—and better trained contestants--than Pinoy Idol.

Christian’s role not a dancing part

Everybody’s concern when Stages announced Christian Bautista’s role as Tony in West Side Story is if he can dance. Christian is a self-admitted non-dancer so how will he tackle the part. Stages President Audi Gemora explained, “There are singing roles and and dancing roles in West Side Story,” shared Audi with Karylle doing Maria alternating with Joanna Ampil. “Christian’s role is a singing role that does not require him to dance.” Whoah, that’s comforting to know! But this does not mean he’s dancing-free. This new production will be faithful to the original Broadway choreography of Jerome Robbins as Audi revealed to BuzzBox. He said, “We have this book that details every dance movement in the musical.” According to Karylle, Christian has a dancing—nah, swaying part—in a song number. For this part, he took dance lessons. Boy Abunda admits Ai-Ai delas Alas "indirectly" involved in Kris-James fight

Nagsalita si Boy Abunda sa napabalitang hiwalayan ng kaibigan at co-host niyang si Kris Aquino at ng asawa nitong si James Yap. Nakausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Boy sa launch ng bago niyang product endorsement na "Boy Abunda For All Sexes" ni Joel Cruz ng Aficionado German Perfume na ginanap sa SM San Lazaro kahapon, June 25.

"Hindi totoong hiwalay sina Kris Aquino at James Yap," pauna ni Boy. "Tatanggapin ko ulit, I mean, ‘Krissy, I'm sorry but I will talk para lamang malinis natin ang mga kuwento-kuwento.' Nag-away sina Kris at James, pero nung lumabas ang balita, tapos na ang kuwento, nagkabalikan na, at nagbati na."

Bakit ngayon lang lumabas na nagkahiwalay pala for a while sina Kris at James?

"Bakit namin itinatahimik ang mga kuwentong ganito?" balik-tanong niya. "Dahil in deference sa kalagayan ni Tita Cory [Aquino], ang ina ni Kris. Kaya hindi maingay ang buhay ni Kris at saka ni James. Kung nag-away man sina Kris at James, personal." (Na-diagnose na may colon cancer ang dating pangulo.)

"Uunahan ko na kayo, totoong umalis sa bahay si Kris," patuloy ni Boy. "Pumunta siya sa Discovery Suites for a number of days, pero nagkaayos na po, nagkabati, nag-uusap, magkasama na ulit at nagbabalak pumunta ng abroad ang dalawa ng tatlong linggo."

AI-AI DELAS ALAS MOVIE. Bakit sila naghiwalay?

"Okey, tatlo raw sabi sa akin kanina," sabi ni Boy. "Third party, hindi po totoo. May isa pang dahilan na ibinigay, that Kris is a brat? Dyusko naman, in fairness to the girl, she doesn't deny that she is a brat, but she has evolved into who she is today. Malayo na ang nararating ni Kris.

"Si Ai-Ai [delas Alas] indirectly, yes, may kinalaman. Ganito po lamang yung paliwanag. Isang araw nag-guest si Wenn Deramas at si Ai-Ai sa Boy & Kris [morning talk show hosted by Boy and Kris]. On the spot, live on air, sinabi ni Wenn, ‘Kris, I'm doing a movie called Ang Tanging Ina ng Bayan [Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat]. May isang eksena, we open the movie with a very important scene na sa aking palagay na ikaw lamang ang makakagawa. Can you do it?'

"On the spot, sinabi ni Kris, yes. Bakit? Si Wenn Deramas ay...when he was executive producer of Calvento Files, he met the young Kris Aquino at doon nag-umpisa ang pagiging magkaibigan nilang mabuti. Naging umpisa yun kung bakit nalipat si Kris mula Channel 7. Hindi ko sinasabi na yun ang dahilan, isa sa mga dahilan, kung bakit lumipat si Kris mula Channel 7 papuntang Channel 2. Nag-meeting si Kris.

"At nung lumipat na si Kris sa ABS-CBN, nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na nakatrabaho ni Kris si Wenn. They worked together and then became good friends. And, isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit hindi puwedeng tumanggi si Kris kay Wenn Deramas.

"Ai-Ai is a good friend of Kris, but it was Wenn who asked Kris," diin ni Boy. "But also Kris will not say no to a friend. Mahalaga para kay Kris Aquino ang pagiging magkakaibigan, alright. So, on the spot sa Boy & Kris, ‘Yes, I will do it.'

"Ayaw ni James, nagalit si James. Krissy, forgive me for saying this. Ayaw ni James because merong diperensiya si Ai-Ai at si James," pag-amin ni Boy, na manager din ni Ai-Ai.

Malinaw na hanggang ngayon ay may gap pa rin si James at Ai-Ai na nagsimula noong kasagsagan ng James-Hope Centeno controversy, kung saan nagbiro si Ai-Ai kay Kris na, "Isoli mo muna si James sa nanay niya."

"Ayoko na idetalye yun, dapat tapos na ‘yon," sabi ni Boy. "Dapat tinuldukan na natin yun. Basta at a certain point in their life, hindi sila... Because Ai-Ai came out to stand by Kris, di ba? During those dark moments, lumabas si Ai-Ai at pumuwesto siya sa tabi ni Kris at hindi ‘yan ikinatuwa ni James, at naiintindihan ko si James.

"Bakit sumama ang loob ni James kay Kris? Dahil ang feeling ni James, sa mga desisyong paggawa ng pellikula, bilang asawa, isinasama siya. Tama naman siya doon, di ba?

"At hindi ko rin masisisi si Kris dahil bilang kaibigan, Kris will do it for Ai-Ai, Kris will do it for Wenn. But when they realized na yun nga, nagkakagulo at nagkakaproblema, tinawagan ni Kris ang mga dapat tawagan na hindi niya na gagawin kung magkakaproblema rin lang ang kanyang marriage. Kaya totoo na, indirectly, may kinalaman si Ai-Ai, kahit hindi mismo si Ai-Ai directly ang may kinalaman.

MARRIAGE COUNSELING. "Pero eto lang, i-set natin ang record, hindi po naghiwalay. Nag-away, nagpalamig, nagkabalikan, nagkaayos na. And right now, para wala nang tanong, they are into marriage counseling. Why? Because James and Kris want to know each other better. Alam ng mga mag-aasawa po ‘yan na ang pagsasama is a journey. They want to know each other. Gusto nilang ayusin at mapatibay ang kanilang relasyon. But it was not a perfect marriage. Whose marriage is perfect, anyway?"

Hindi ba't nabalita rin noon na nagpa-marriage counseling sila after magkabati dahil sa unang hiwalayan nila nung ipinagbubuntis pa lang ni Kris ang bunsong anak na si Baby James?

"No, nag-umpisa na," paglilinaw ni Boy. "Pero mas pursigido sila, si Father Jun Siscon pa rin. Mas pursigido sila ngayon. Katulad halimbawa the other day, Kris was talking to me about making decisions as a couple, yun yung mga natutunan niya ngayon na may mga desisyon na dapat talagang pinag-uusapan ng dalawa, di ba?

"Pero I will be surprised about it dahil wala namang kamuwang-muwang si Ai-Ai sa mga kaganapang ito. Kaya magdadagdag ako dahil ako naman ang manager ni Ai-Ai. Kung tatanungin ninyo today si Ai-Ai about all these things, sasabihin niya, ‘I still stand by what I said. Kaibigan ko si Kris and I take the side of Kris.' Ganun lang kasimple yun.

"Pero umaasa ako na isang araw, mapag-usapan din ‘yan at magkabati [sina Ai-Ai at James]. Dahil wala naman silang pinag-awayan. Kumampi lang naman si Ai-Ai kay Kris."

WHO MADE THE FIRST MOVE? Pagkatapos ng ilang araw sa Discovery Suites ay bigla na lang daw nagdesisyon si Kris na bumalik na sa bahay nila ni James sa Pasig.

"Wala, natapos lang," sabi ni Boy.

Sinuyo ba ni James si Kris?

"Nagpalipas lang ng sama ng loob. Di ba kasi kapag mainit kayong dalawa, walang mangyayari?"

So, si Kris ang nag-give in?

"Does it matter? I don't think it does, no," sagot ni Boy.

Sa pagkakaalam ng marami, napakalakas at napakatapang ng personality ni Kris kaya nabuo sa isipan nila na hindi siya basta-basta makikipagkasundo, lalo na't alam niyang nasa tama siya. At para sa isang ‘tulad ni Kris, mataas din ang expectations sa kanya pagdating sa mga decisions in life.

"No, James also is a strong person," pagtatama ni Boy. "In a marriage, dapat bigayan yun... Ayoko nang palakihin kung sino ang nanunuyo, but nakita ko si James nandun na sa set ng Boy & Kris. They started to talk. Who made the first move, I really don't know. They have babies, they have children. Regardless who made the first move, maayos silang nag-uusap ngayon at masaya.

"Pero tinatanggap ko, totoo, nag-away. Well, umalis ng bahay. Pero nagkaayos, nagpalamig, at away. Pero okey na sila ngayon," diin ng manager at TV host.

Sa gitna ng isyung ito, aware ba ang ina ni Kris na si ex-President Cory Aquino?

"Kaya nga kami tumatahimik, hindi katulad noon na 'pag bawat kilos ni Kris lumalabas at napapag-usapan. Napansin ninyo, lumabas ang balitang ito, tapos na ang kuwento. Ngayon alam na dahil nagsasalita ako."

PEACE BETWEEN AI-AI & JAMES. Wala bang effort si Kris na pagbatiin sina Ai-Ai at James?

"Wala pa, dapat kami may effort, pero hindi napipilit yun, e. Dahil maninindigan naman si Ai-Ai sa kanyang sinabi na naninindigan ako kung anuman. Ako, I'm speaking as a manager, kung anuman ang namutawi sa aking bibig, paninindigan ko ‘yan because I did it for Kris, my friend."

May nagsabi naman na parang napakababaw naman daw ni James para awayin si Kris sa isang proyekto na gagawin niya para sa kanyang kaibigan.

"Ayokong mag-judge," iwas ni Boy. "Ayokong magsabi kung sino ang mababaw at sino ang malalim. We are involved in relationships, so kung maayos, okey ako."

Final na raw ang stand ni Kris na wala muna siyang project na gagawin na makakasakit sa damdamin ni James, and for sure, maiintindihan ito nina Ai-Ai at Direk Wenn.

"Dadagdagan ko ‘yan, may mga bagay na mas mahalaga sa project," sabi ni Boy. "At isa na dito ang pamilya, ang pag-aasawa. Kasi hindi naman ‘yan choice, e, between your marriage and a movie project. ‘Wenn, Ai-Ai, I will understand if Kris wouldn't be able to do it.'
"Pelikula lang ‘yan. Maiintindihan namin ‘yan kung ang nakasalalay naman ay ang katahimikan ninyo sa bahay. It's not even a debate. You know your choice. Pero yung pipilitin natin si James at si Ai-Ai na magtagpo ngayon, huwag muna. I mean, maaayos din ‘yan. Dadating din ang araw na maaayos ‘yan. Bakit kamo, emosonal yun, e. ‘Hindi ko makakalimutan at one point, kinampihan mo ang asawa ko.' And I don't blame James, but neither will I blame Ai-Ai," pagtatapos ni Boy.

The news that Kris Aquino and James Yap were about to break up originated from “K Text”. According to one subscriber of the text service, Kris Aquino herself was giving updates about the status of her relationship with James. She even divulged the fact that they are undergoing a marriage counseling.

Lorna Tolentino admits offer from ABS-CBN, but she's not yet ready to work

First public appearance ng aktres na si Lorna Tolentino, after the death of her husband Rudy Fernandez, ang pag-attend niya ng 5th Golden Screen Awards ng Entertainment Press Society (Enpress) last Tuesday, June 24, sa Zirkoh Greenhills.

A week before the awards night, nagpunta si Lorna sa Boracay to unwind pagkatapos ng libing ni Daboy. Kasama ng aktres na nagpunta roon ang dalawa niyang anak na sina Ralphe at Renz, pati ang mga kaibigang sina Precy Ejercito and her daughter Jel, ang mag-asawang Tirso Cruz III at Lynn and their daughter Djanin, Isabel Rivas, Amy Austria, at ilang non-showbiz friends. Sumunod din si Jinggoy Estrada, pero bumalik din ito kinabukasan sa Manila.

Inabutan daw sila ng bagyong Frank sa Boracay, kaya yung balak sana ni Lorna na magbilad sa araw ay hindi natupad. Nag-swimming na lang sila sa pool ng hotel na tinuluyan nila habang bumabagyo. Si Precy na dapat ay mauunang umuwi ng Saturday ay stranded kaya sabay-sabay na silang bumalik ng Manila noong Monday afternoon, June 23.

Iyon pala ay nag-decide si Lorna na um-attend ng awards night ng Golden Screen Awards last Tuesday dahil may tribute at binigyan ng posthumous award ang kanyang namayapang mister. Bukod dito, nanalo rin si Lorna sa kategoryang Best Performance of an Actress in a Musical/Comedy para sa pelikula nila ni Jinggoy, ang Katas ng Saudi—her first acting award in a comedy movie.

Hindi raw niya puwedeng biguin ang mga kaibigan na patuloy na sumusuporta sa kanila sa kabila ng mga nangyari. Hindi rin niya puwedeng biguin sina Jinggoy, Bong Revilla, at Phillip Salvador na pumayag na mag-perform noong gabing iyon para kay Rudy.

Si Bong ay pupunta dapat sa U.S. for a vacation, pero hindi muna tumuloy. Ang mag-asawang Tirso at Lynn, dapat ay umalis din nung araw na ‘yon for a series of shows sa Canada with German Moreno. Hindi muna sila tumuloy dahil nakasagot na si Pip na ire-rehearse niya sina Bong, Jinggoy, at Phillip sa kantang na "Paalam, Daboy" na siya ang nagpalit ng ilang lyrics sa song na "Doon Lang" ni Nonoy Zuñiga.

Bukod dito, nakasagot na rin pala si Pip na siya naman ang kakanta para kay Christopher de Leon sa tribute naman dito as the recipient of the Lino Brocka Lifetime Achievement Award. Kaya during the awards night ay sinamahan pa rin si Lorna nina Precy at Lynn.

Maraming nagsabing very composed pa rin ni Lorna kahit halatang malungkot ang aktres. Nakakatawa na rin siya sa pagbibiruan nina Jinggoy, Bong, at Ipe bago sila kumanta dahil pinalayo pa ni Jinggoy si Ipe para may space dahil doon daw nakatayo si Rudy.

Medyo bumigay si Lorna nang tanggapin niya ang posthumous award mula sa tatlong pinakamatalik na kaibigan ni Rudy dahil kahit sila ay medyo napaiyak na rin.

Sa thank-you speech ni Lorna, sinabing: "Mahalaga ang award na ito dahil alam ko, hindi naman talaga nawala si Rudy. Narito lang siya, kasama natin siya at alam ko, natutuwa siya sa tinanggap kong award.

"Ngayon nga po [June 24)] ang church wedding anniversary namin. Mananatili siyang buhay sa alaaala ng lahat ng mga tao na nagmamahal sa kanya. Kaya muli akong nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat, sa inyong suporta at pagmamahal."

Pagkatapos ng awards night ay nakausap ng PEP at iba pang entertainment press si Lorna. Medyo napangiti ang aktres nang maalaala ang thank-you speech niya.

"Ayaw ni Papa [Rudy] na umiyak ako, ayaw niya ng madrama, kaya nagpigil ako sa pag-iyak kanina," sabi ni Lorna. "Hindi ko na natandaan kung anu-ano ang sinabi ko, pero alam ko siya ang gumabay sa akin kung ano ang sasabihin ko."

Tinanong na rin si Lorna kung kailan siya babalik as one of the co-hosts of StarTalk ng GMA-7.

"Wala pa, hindi pa muna ako magtatrabaho," sagot niya. "Kailangan ko munang tapusin lahat ng mga ibinilin sa akin ni Papa. Marami pa akong aayusin. Pinaghahandaan ko na rin muna ang forty days niya next month."

Toni Gonzaga talks about the actors who were linked to her

Huling napanood sa big screen si Toni Gonzaga sa My Big Love ng Star Cinema. Yearly lang daw talaga kung gumawa siya ng movie dahil napakarami pa niyang ibang ginagawa, tulad ng paghu-host sa Pinoy Big Brother noon at ngayon naman ay sa Pinoy Dream Academy. Hindi rin puwedeng isantabi ang kanyang singing career.

After ng My Big Love, may nakaplano na raw siyang movie na gagawin, still under Star Cinema. Pero ayon kay Toni, hindi pa raw puwedeng i-divulge ang details ng next movie project niya dahil hindi pa sila nagsisimula. Ang kinumpirma lang niya ay si Vhong Navarro na naman ang makakatambal niya rito.

"Siyempre, obvious, comedy!" natatawa niyang sabi sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "Yun ang gusto ng Star at saka okey rin sa akin dahil parang reunion movie ulit naming dalawa ni Vhong."

PIOLO PASCUAL. Kung mapapansin, among the young actors ng ABS-CBN, isa sa mga unang na-link o nag-open-up na may gusto sa kanya noon pa man ay si Piolo Pacual. Pero never na nag-materialize ang movie na silang dalawa ang magkasama. PEP asked Toni kung ano kaya ang posibleng dahilan nito.

"E, siyempre, maraming changes. Maraming bago. May bago na siyang love team ngayon, which is okay lang din naman yun. Ganoon talaga sa showbiz. Kaya kung hangga't hindi pa finalized ang project, ayoko munang pag-usapan. Kasi, di ba, maraming changes na nangyayari?" saad ni Toni.

Hindi raw naniniwala si Toni na parang may pumipigil na magkasama sila ni Piolo sa isang pelikula.

"Wala naman," sabi niya. "Ako kasi, sa tingin ko, everything happens for a reason. Wala, okey lang sa akin kahit matuloy or hindi matuloy kasi lahat naman yun, may right timing. Siguro nga, baka hindi pa lang ngayon ang time. Pero who knows, di ba?"

SAM MILBY. Ayaw niya rin sabihin na tapos na ang team-up nila ni Sam Milby after being paired sa ilang movies, na pawang kumita naman lahat.

"With Sam, hindi ko alam, e. Siyempre depende naman yun sa Star Cinema at saka kung ano ang magugustuhan ng mga tao."

Wala rin daw problema sa kanya kung kay Anne Curtis na talaga ipinapareha ngayon si Sam.

Ani Toni, "Sanay na rin naman ako sa ganoon. That's showbiz. That's really how it is. Wala akong hard feeling towards anybody. Nakakatrabaho ko rin naman sila. Nakakasama sa ASAP, so no hard feelings about that."

LUIS MANZANO. Bukod sa kanyang real-life boyfriend na si Paul Soriano, hindi maitatanggi na malapit din sa puso ni Toni si Luis Manzano. Kuwento ni Toni, hanggang ngayon daw ay dumadalaw pa rin si Luis kapag may taping siya sa Pinoy Dream Academy.

"Si Luis, bumibisita pa rito minsan. Siyempre, nag-PBB kasi siya. Siyempre, nakatrabaho na rin niya kami. Basta si Luis, palaging parte ‘yan ng buhay ko at kaibigan ko na talaga si Luis."

Maagap naman ang sagot ni Toni nang hingan namin ang komento niya na isa siya sa mga babeng ipinakilala ni Luis sa pamilya nito, na pinanghihinayang ng young TV host-actor.

"Ay naku, parang hindi!" sambit ni Toni. "Tingin ko kasi kay Luis, ever since, ibang klaseng tao ‘yan. Si Luis, kahit kailan, ipagtatanggol ko ‘yan. Kasi iba yung napatunayan niya sa akin. Si Luis siguro yung sa lahat ng na-link sa akin ang masasabi kong iba."

Alam daw ni Toni ang pinagdaanan ni Luis nang manligaw ito sa kanya at mauwi rin sa wala. Pero dahil din dito kaya mas lalong napalapit sa kanya ang binata.

"Alam ko naman yun," ulit ng dalaga. "Alam ko naman ang mga moments na yun sa amin. But what's good with Luis is that he's man enough to accept everything. At saka iba, iba si Luis, magaling siyang mag-handle."

Although may kanya-kanya na silang love life, aminado si Toni na hindi naman daw nila hawak ang future.

"Siyempre, hindi naman natin masasabi kung ano talaga ang mangyayari. Ako rin naman, ayokong sabihin na hindi at ayokong sabihin na oo. Hindi naman natin masasabi kung ano ang mangyayari in the future. Basta right now, masaya kami sa estado ng buhay namin sa isa't isa, sa personal naming buhay. But still nga, hindi natin masasabi at the end pa rin," pahayag niya.

ALEX GONZAGA. Aware si Toni sa ilang comments na parang ginagaya ng younger sister niyang si Alex Gonzaga ang style niya sa pagku-comedy. Para kay Toni, understandable yun dahil magkapatid nga sila.

"Siguro, hindi maiiwasan yun dahil magkapatid kami. ‘Tapos, pareho rin yata kami ng tinatahak, or pareho na dahil comedy rin. Pero yung sa kanya nga lang, full blast na comedy, which is hindi ko naman kayang gawin," paliwanag ni Toni.

Naniniwala si Toni na mahirap ang pinagdadaanan ng kapatid niya ngayon.

"Mahirap yun for her. Bago, bata...nagta-try sa industry. She will always be compared under my shadow. Parang palaging nasa anino ko. At palagi ko lang sinasabi sa kanya, tutal ang tagal ko rin naman bago napansin sa industriya... It took me seven, eight years bago ako mabigyan ng biggest break.

"So you just have to prove your worth sa industry na ito. Yun ang isang bagay na natutunan ko. You don't have to give up at saka tatagan mo lang [ang sarili] sa mga criticism. Hayaan mo lang yun. I-take mo ang iba as contructive at i-take mo naman ang iba na dumadaan lang sa isang tainga at lumalabas naman sa kabila. Pero yung may mga points, tandaan mo yun."

Kilala si Toni sa pagiging very supportive pagdating sa kanyang pamilya. No doubt na kung suporta rin lang ang pag-uusapan ay maibibigay niya yun sa kapatid. Pero para kay Toni, magkaiba pa rin sila ni Alex in so many ways.

"Magkaibang-magkaiba kami, e. Siyempre, may resemblance lang sa akin kasi magkapatid kami. Ako ang nakikita niya, so pareho. Pero eventually, I'm sure magkakaroon din siya ng chance na maiba.

"Sinasabi ko lang na huwag siyang magpapadala sa agos ng showbiz, i-maintain niya yung values niya kung sino siya. At saka huwag niyang kakalimutan yung mga taong mahalaga sa buhay niya. Yun lang, huwag siyang magbago. Yun lang ang secret," pagtatapos ni Toni.

Sarah Geronimo wants her first boyfriend to be the man she'll marry

Sa presscon ng A Very Special Love sa Burgoo restaurant, Quezon City, noong June 24, marami sa mga naroong press ang nag-iisip na dahil hindi pa nga nagkaka-boyfriend ang female lead na si Sarah Geronimo, mahihirapan siyang ibigay ang hinihinging papel niya bilang lovestruck girl sa isang masungit pero cute na male boss.

Pero ani Sarah, malaking factor daw na isang magaling na aktor na tulad ni John Lloyd Cruz ang kapareha niya. Isa pa, wala na raw siyang anumang pagkailang na nararamdaman kay John Lloyd dahil magkakilala na sila noon pa't nagkatrabaho na raw sila.

"Ano po, e, kumbaga, it came out naturally as we worked together. Nangyari na lang. Siguro kasi, ganoon na siya, e. Nahiya na lang din ako na hindi siya pansinin. Kasi dati, hindi ko talaga siya pinapansin dahil nahihiya talaga ako sa kanya.

"So, tinanggal ko na lang ang hiya ko, kaya okey na kami."

NO "BOYCOTT" PLAN. Tungkol sa balitang pagbo-boycott ng mga fans nina John Lloyd at Bea Alonzo, ayon kay Sarah, natuwa raw siya na hindi naman daw pala totoo ang isyung yun.

"Nagsalita na po kasi ang mga fans ni Bea at John Lloyd at pinatunayan nila na mali ang rumor na yun. Susuportahan daw po nila si John Lloyd sa kahit anong proyektong gagawin nito.

"Nanood po ako ng The Buzz noong Linggo. So, yun po, at siyempre po, pinagpi-pray ko po na magustuhan ng mga fans nina Bea at John Lloyd at lahat po ng manonood yung movie."

Hindi ba siya na-offend sa ginawing ito ng mga fans nina John Lloyd? Hindi ba't kung fans din lang, marami rin naman siyang fans.

"Hmm....well, sa totoo lang po, hindi ko na po kasi naiisip yun. Kumbaga, pareho naman po kami na kahit paano, may mga sumusuporta. Kaya sana po, lahat sila manood at suportahan na lang po ang movie namin."

LOVE QUESTIONS. May nag-suggest mula sa press people na kapanayam niya, bakit daw hindi pa niya subukang magkaroon ng romantic inspiration para maging makulay ang buhay niya. Dagdag pa ng mga nambubuyong press, tutal ay 20 years old na siya.

"Meron naman po akong ina-admire na tao at okey na po ako ro'n," palihim na tugon ni Sarah.

Tinanong na si John Lloyd kung magkakagusto ba siya kay Sarah kung wala siyang girlfriend. "Yes!" naman agad ang sagot ni John Lloyd. How about Sarah, kung single and available nga si Lloydie, would she fall in love with him?

"Well, if I were to fall in love, siguro po, labas na nga po roon ang pagiging ready. Pero, tingin ko, hindi pa ‘ko ready. Kasi nga, palagi ko nga pong sinasabi na gusto ko, kapag nagka-boyfriend ako, siya na talaga ang pakakasalan ko. Yun po talaga ang aking mentality.

"At kung loveless naman si John Lloyd ngayon, bakit naman hindi," sagot ni Sarah kung mai-in love ba siya rito. "E, nasa kanya rin naman po yung mga qualities na hinahanap ko sa isang guy. Pero still...hindi mo pa rin masasabi yun kasi, hindi ko pa rin naman siya lubusang kilala."

Napa- "uuuyyy!" naman ang mga entertainment press nang aminin ni Sarah na nung ginagawa raw nila ni John Lloyd ang MMK episode nila ay nakaramdam din siya ng kilig sa leading man.

The 1st 2nd full-length animated pinoy movie Urduja was too weak to join screening schedules with Hollywood movies such as The Incredible Hulk, Get Smart, Kung Fu Panda and Made of Honor as it was only able to rake in P5.1 million on its first weekend screening.

Perhaps typhoon Frank was also to blame for the weak performance of the legendary princess.

Animator Says ‘Urduja’ Claim as First Pinoy Animated Movie is False

World-class Filipino animator Gerry Garcia said he is really upset with reports and claims that the new film “Urduja” is the Philippines’ first full-length animated movie.

The animator explained that it was his ‘baby’ “Adarna” which owns the title of being the first full-length Pinoy animated movie. “Adarna” was released in 1997.

“Adarna” was released under FLT Productions and Guiding Light Productions as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival. It featured the voices of singers Jolina Magdangal, Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez.

Garcia wrote and directed the animated film. He said “Adarna” was the first animated movie in Philippine Cinema, and that it received a Special Award from the Metro Manila Film Festival specifically for this distinction in December 27, 1997.

On his trophy it said ’ADARNA Kauna-unahang animated Movie sa Philippine Cinema.’
He received the same from FAMAS and other award giving bodies. In Japan, Adarna was honored during the 7th Hiroshima Animation Festival as “Asian collection” in 1998.

In recent press releases for “Urduja”, producer Tony Tuviera said that he believes his film is the first of its kind in the Philippines. This statement angered Garcia the most.

“Sa sarili mo hindi mo che-checkin ‘yun kung sinong may unang gumawa, impossible — common sense yun,” he said.

A resident of Verona New Jersey since 1998, Garcia said he chose to live a quiet life abroad.
He said “Adarna” has been his pride and joy and he carries with him the honor from that movie. So when Tuviera claimed an accomplishment that Garcia said he proudly earned, he said he had no choice but to speak up and let the world know.

“Kahit sino mang artist, paglalaban mo ‘yung baby mo, anak mo ‘yan,” he said.
Garcia said he feels helpless and can only count on Filipino American news outlets especially in New Jersey to defend his legacy. Reports said Garcia has no plan to sue Urduja’s makers.
He just hopes that credit and respect will be given to those who really earned it. He said he just simply wants everybody to know the truth.

DZMM Wins Silver Medal in New York Festival

ABS-CBN’s AM radio station, DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 bagged the silver prize in the prestigious New York Festivals for the Radio Broadcasting Breaking News Story category (longform) for its special coverage of the Manila Hostage Drama last year.

Peter Musngi, ABS-CBN vice-president for Manila Radio Division, DZMM program and production services manager Marah Faner Capuyan and DZMM executive producer Nannette Quong received the award Thursday night, June 19, at at the Tribaca Rooftop in New York City.
DZMM won for covering the hostage-taking involving a whole busload of pre-school students who were held hostage on March 18, 2007.

It will be recalled that as soon as Radyo Patrol reporter Armel Fernandez broke the story, DZMM geared up for a special coverage and deployed reporters to the scene to get more information and a clearer picture of the situation at hand.

“The biggest breakthrough came when DZMM got hold of Jun Ducat, the hostage-taker himself and as it turned out, it was only through DZMM that he could be contacted. “It also became the link between Ducat and the worried parents of school children,” said Musngi.

DZMM veteran anchors Ted Failon and Korina Sanchez bridged him and the proper authorities–from the education department, to the social welfare department and, most importantly, the national police — for his demands. After 10 long hours of tension, the hostage drama ended when Ducat agreed to surrender and release the hostages at seven in the evening.

“Throughout this, DZMM reported with prudence and acted responsibly thus avoiding a tragic ending to this crisis. The station again lives up to its commitment of being first in news and public service without causing harm and endangering others,” said Musngi.

Aside from winning the silver prize, DZMM also earned a finalist berth fot its station manager-anchor Angelo Palmones in the Talk Show Host category for the science-oriented show “Bago Yan, Ah!”

Mixed emotions si Angel Locsin sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng kauna-unahan niyang teleserye sa Primetime Bida ng ABS-CBN, ang Lobo. By this time maaaring nakunan na ang mga huling eksena ni Angel at Piolo Pascual para sa huling dalawang linggo ng Lobo.

"Masaya ako na... actually, masaya ako na matatapos kami dahil ito yung masasabi ko na after ten years na binalikan ko, magiging proud pa rin talaga ako na natapos namin yung ganito kagandang show at naaliw ako dahil natuwa talaga ang mga tao," lahad ni Angel nang makapanayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

GAP WITH PIOLO? Kahit matatapos na ang Lobo hinahabol pa rin ng intriga si Angel at Piolo. FHM PHILS.' SEXIEST. May intriga tungkol sa pagkakaungos sa kanya ni Marian Rivera para number one slot ng Philippines' Sexiest ng FHM Philippines Magazine. May komento si Angel tungkol dito.

"Ewan ko po. Hindi naman po natin kontrolado, ‘di ba? Kung sino ang mananalo, kung sino ang iboboto ng mga tao? Basta ako, masaya ako. Parang ano yun, e, parang kailangan ba kunin ko lahat?"

Masaya at nagpapasalamat naman daw siya sa pagtitiwalang ibinigay naman sa kanya ng isa pang men's sexy magazine. Hinirang kasi siya nito bilang kanilang pinakaseksing babae sa Pinas. Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin nito'y kakalimutan na niyang magpasalamat din sa FHM.

"Sa FHM, nagpapasalamat ako. Kasi doon ako nag-start. Pero nagawa ko na ‘yan [being hailed as the Philippines' sexiest] even before pa. Parang, bigyan naman natin yung iba ng chance, ‘di ba?"

Hindi ba niya inaambisyong maging number one ulit sa FHM?

"Hindi na. Para sa akin mas importante yung mga taong naniniwala sa akin. Mas may importantsya sa akin."

Pero okey lang ba sa kanya kung si Marian ang hiranging number one sa sexiest list ng FHM Philippines?

Angel Locsin agrees to go topless for jeans endorsement

Napakalakas na hiyawan ang sumalubong kay Angel Locsin paglabas niya ng stage sa fashion show cum launching niya bilang bagong endorser ng Folded & Hung sa Activity Center sa TriNoma last Saturday, June 21.

"Feeling model," sagot ni Angel nang i-welcome siya ng host ng event na si Phoemela Barranda.

A few weeks back ay naging isyu ang pagiging endorser ni Angel ng ibang clothing line pagkatapos kunin ng dating ini-endorse na JAG jeans si Marian Rivera. But it turned out na may bago nang ie-endorse na brand ng pantalon si Angel, ang Folded & Hung.

"Ten years na sila sa business at para rin ‘yang pag-aartista. You always have to show something new to offer. At para sa akin, dahil umabot sila ng ten years with great results, indicator ito na tama ang kanilang ginagawa at talagang tinatangkilik sila.

"When I found out that they were interested in me, sobrang na-flatter at natuwa ako. So, sobrang natutuwa ako, na mabigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon na makasali sa kanila," pahayag ni Angel.

Happy and thankful si Angel dahil pinagkatiwalaan siya ng F&H na makasama ang iba pa nilang endorsers na sina Claudine Barretto at Maja Salvador.

Sa gitna ng Activity Center ng TriNoma nakasabit ang naglalakihang tarpaulin ni Angel for F&H kung saan wala siyang suot na pang-itaas, kita ang likod at nakasuot ng pantalon. Paano siya napapayag na mag-pose ng topless sa billboard?

"Biglaan lang yun, e," sagot niya. "Wala kasi kaming mga peg. Ganyan mag-work ang F&H. Parang sobrang genius nila, biglaan lang.

"Nung una na-tense ako dahil hindi ko naman ginagawa. Pero, di ba, parang why not? Wala naman akong ginagawang masama. ‘Tsaka para sa akin, hindi pa siya daring."

Ngayon, hindi man gustuhin ni Angel, tiyak na maikukumpara siya sa F&H endorser na si Claudine.

"Naku, there's nothing to compare. Si Ms. Claudine, Ms. Claudine na ‘yan. Ang dami-dami na niyang achievements. Ano naman po ba ako compared to her?" ani Angel.

Hindi kaya matalbugan pa niya sina Claudine at Maja as endorser ng F&H? And later, tuluyan na niyang palitan sina Claudine at Maja?

"Ah, walang ganun, walang ganun na deal. Kahit hindi pa kami talaga nakakapagtrabaho kapag nasa isang company hindi naman sila ganun klaseng tao at iba-ibang ino-offer para sa brand at para sa mga tao kaya nandito kami."

Nilinaw rin ni Angel ang isyu na sinulot niya ang F&H kina Claudine at Maja.

"Ganun ba kadali yun? Hindi naman ako nagbayad sa F&H para kunin ako, di ba?"

May balita na nagalit daw si Claudine dahil bigla siyang kinuhang endorser ng F&H? Ano ang reaksiyon niya rito?

"E, hindi pa kami nagkikita ni Ms. Claudine ngayon, pero hindi naman. Parang sa akin, ginagawan lang ng intriga ng mga tao kasi siyempre, ‘eto, bagong part ako ng family ng F&H, pero hindi naman. Bagong sampa lang ako sa pamilya."

Hindi niya pinalitan si Claudine?

"Hindi po," tanggi ni Angel. "Iki-clear ko po, karagdagan lang po ako dito. Wala po akong pinalitan kahit na sino."

Wala bang usapan na magsasama-sama sila nina Claudine at Maja para sa proyekto ng F&H tulad ng billboard?

"Merong pinaplano, pero hindi pa sure. Tulad ng sinabi ko kanina, wala kami nung mga peg talaga," pagwawakas ni Angel.
