DZMM has received a bumper crop of new honors this May. Two of its on-air offerings were declared finalists in the prestigious New York Festivals for Radio Broadcasting. Awarding will be on June 19 at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City. DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 Special Coverage of the Manila Hostage Drama is a finalist in the Breaking News Story (Longform), while DZMM station manager Angelo Palmones received a finalist berth for the Talk Show Host category for the science-oriented radio show Bago Yan, Ah! Angelo will also be honored by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as one of the country’s 50 Men and Women of Science for his work promoting local and international scientific breakthroughs on Bago Yan, Ah! The citation letter, signed by DOST Secretary Estrella Alabastro stated that Palmones’ award commemorates his achievements that “have brought honor not only to yourself and your family, but also to the Philippine Scientific Community.” The DOST awarding ceremonies are scheduled for June 9 at the UP Theatre in Diliman.
