National Ambassador KC Concepcion helps raise awareness on the fight against hunger

Young actress Kapamilya ­­­­­­KC Concepcion raises hunger-awareness program thru Walk The World With Us, an organization dedicated to feeding millions—59 million to be more specific—of schoolchildren from around the world.

The Walk the World With Us event will be held this Sunday at 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. KC will personally be there to help raise funds for a global school-feeding fund, that will keep 10,000 school children from Mindanao hunger-free. It's a fact that kids learn better with a full stomach.

Here are some of the hunger facts shared by the organization:

1. Every five seconds a child dies because she or he is hungry
2. 10.9 million children fewer than five die in developing countries each year. Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60 percent of the deaths
3. 524 million of the world's hungry live in South Asia - more than the populations of Australia and USA
4. The number of chronically hungry people worldwide is growing by an average of four million per year ac current trends
5. A hungry child can receive a school meal for only 10US cents per day or 5 pesos

Your five pesos can go a long way in helping someone live. By donating five-peso per day or P2,200 a year helps feed a hungry child.

KAPAMILYA BREAKING BUZZES

KC Concepcion will launch “A.K.A. Cassandra,” her debut CD under Sony BMG, on Tuesday, June 3, 12 noon at the Ruby Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Made up of 11 easy-listening songs, it will include revivals given a new treatment like “Umbrella,” “Imagine,” “Just Can’t Get Enough,” “Just Can’t Get Enough,” “Must Have Been Love,” “Imagine,” “Impossible” & some OPM songs such as “Agila” and “Ngiti Lang.” In some of the tracks, she plays instruments such as the kulintang.

The agonizing wait will be over! The actor who will play Armando in the much-awaited “Yo Soy Betty La Fea” will be introduced in “ASAP 08” this Sunday.

No more Aga appearance in future Lea concerts

Lea Salonga’s “LEA My Life...On Stage” 30th anniversary concert at the PICC Plenary Hall turned out a critical and commercial success that a out-of-the-metro tour is now being planned. But special guest Aga Muhlach will not join these repeats. Lea will have to do without him.His appearance in the show turned out to be the concert’s main highlight. Aga’s banter with Lea provided much of the laughs and his duet with her turned out to be a memorable one. Unknown to many, Aga tried to back out a few weeks before the show due to performance jitters. He could not sleep; the same thing happened to wife Charlene Gonzales. It took manager Ethel Ramos to tell him she would have nothing to do if he decided to backout. This pushed Aga to do the show and started rehearsing. He appeared for free, reasoning out, “Nag-enjoy naman ako.”

It’s Jason Abalos for Christine Reyes

Recall my buzz about Jason Abalos being Christine Reyes’ leading man in “Eva Fonda?” It turned out to be correct! The still to be screened “Eva Fonda” teaser shows him as her leading man, confirming the fact. If the ABS-CBN remake will be faithful to the original characters, Jason will play the role of Ernie Garcia in the 1976 movie “Mrs. Eva Fonda, 16 ” which is the basis of “Eva Fonda.” Christine plays the role of Eva, an innocent but sexy young woman from the barrio who got pregnant early in life. Joross Gamboa is also in the drama series but not as Christine’s leading man. Also in the cast are Jean Saburit, Baron Geisler, Janna Garcia and Princess Ryan. Jon Reid and Frasco Mortiz direct the sineserye. According to insider information, Christine will not be in the all-female gag show “Banana Split” whichwill replace the former Sunday timeslot of Aga Muhlach’s sitcom.

A series of ex-lovers in “Maalaala Mo Kaya?” TONIGHT

Tonight, ex-lovers Ara Mina and Jomari Yllana star in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” which is their first screen exposure since they broke up. Shot in Pagudpod in Ilocos Norte, it brought them to work with Jeffrey Jeturian who directed their first full-length feature “Minsan Pa.” In the story, they are unhappily married who broke away from their respective spouse. They found each other to start a new life together which will lead into a tragedy. But this is not the last of such special feature. A controversial actor has decided to be paired with his former squeeze, an actress often considered as one of the most beautiful faces in local showbiz. Billy now a full-blown ABS-CBN star

When Billy Crawford appears today in his solo presscon at 9501 Restaurant of the ELJ Communications Center, he will have to face the intrigues about his transfer from GMA to ABS-CBN. Billy arrives today contrary to the tab report he will do so next week. He decided to transfer from the Kapuso to the Kapamilya network. He has no work contract with GMA so he accepted the offer to host the second season of “Pinoy Dream Academy.” It will start to air early June when “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Plus” wraps up on June 7. For sure, it will coincide with the broadcast of GMA’s “Pinoy Idol.” Billy will also be joining “ASAP 08.” This transfer displeased his mentor German Moreno and ex-manager Raul Laurente which he did without even informing them. But Billy thinks he has not done anything wrong as it’s a career move. He wants a television career with ABS-CBN as it gives him local and global exposure through The Filipino Channel.

Charice leaves today for first US solo show

Except for the David Foster show, all of Charice’s appearances in the US including the Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Wimfrey shows were promo stints. This means she did not get paid for such appearances but paid for her plane tickets and all other incidental expenses. She only got gifts from them. The talent fee from the David show, however, was deposited in a trust fund in her name. But she’s returning to the US today for her first solo show, a paid appearance. “BuzzBox” met Charice yesterday for the launching of self-titled CD Lite as released by Star Records. Said CD has full length and minus one versions “And I’m Telling You (I’m Not Going),” “It Can Only Get Better,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Born To Love You Forever,” “I Have Nothing” and “Mama.” Charice will return for the June 7 show of Air Supply at the Big Dome where she will do the fronct act.

Robi and Nan Nominated for Eviction from PBB Teen Edition Plus

Yesterday, Nikki was ready to be evicted yet was first to be saved from it, at least for now. Robi was next, thankful at being given another chance.

This left Valerie to take her turn in exiting the yellow house, which she exited with grace and charm.

Ejay cried his heart out to Kuya, in a daze and trying to convince himself that it was all just a bad dream.Nikki was certainly making the most of the chance awarded her, and eagerly took on the task of being the lone traffic enforcer. Even while eating, she quickly caught the slightest violation and blew her whistle several times, dispensing tickets and traffic reminders.

Meanwhile, Beauty and Alex gave been sharing a lot of sweet moments in the house. The lone couple left, it seems their relationship has been given an extra boost. From hugs and sweet nothings, they gave already gone as far as exchanging "I love you’s". Hmm… where is this heading? Is this brought about by proximity and the near end of it, or will this go beyond the Big Night? This closeness, however sweet, could be questioned when their nominees were revealed.

Nomination was done face-to-face again, this time by the three who were excluded from doing it last time: Alex, Ejay and Beauty.

Ejay nominated Alex and Robi. He felt that, of the guy housemates, he couldn’t bond with the first. The latter got 2 points because of his seriousness and because of the fact that, even if he got booted out, he still had the means to fulfill his dreams.

Beauty was all apologies to Alex and Nan, her 1 and 2, respectively.

Alex was too emotional, she thought, and she had a difficult time understanding him. Nan, still happy-go-lucky, seemed unable to handle a more serious situation.

Alex, too, gave Beauty two points, because she had continuously offended him by teasing him that he was gay, and because she wasn’t in need of the prize. For her hot-headedness, Nikki got his 1 point.

At the end, Robi and Nan, receiving 5 and 4 points respectively, were nominated for this Saturday’s eviction.

With just a couple of days to save them, Robi and Nan really need the Kuyanatics’ support.

Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa reunite in an episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya"

Nakatanggap ng text message ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kahapon, May 29, tungkol sa pagpayag ng young actor na si Jericho Rosales na muling makatrabaho ang ex-girlfriend at dating ka-love team na si Kristine Hermosa. Ayon sa text message, "It's official...Jericho Rosales & Kristine Hermosa will be featured once again in a special episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya. Echo just said yes!"

Maaalalang nabalita na ang tungkol sa pagsasama ng ex-couple sa isang soap ng ABS-CBN. But that time, hindi pa masyadong solved pareho sina Jericho at Kristine. Isa nga raw sa kanila ang hindi masyadong interesado sa planong pagsamahin sila na hindi tinukoy kung sino.

Bangs Garcia: "Please lang, ayoko ng love triangle in real life."

Nagdiwang ng kanyang 21st birthday si Bangs Garcia last May 26. Sa presscon para sa May celebrants na Star Magic talents kahapon, sinabi sa amin ni Bangs na more of a family affair ang naganap para sa kaarawan niya sa kanilang hometown mismo sa Davao City.

"Bihira kasi akong magpunta ng Davao mula nang maging busy ako sa pag-aartista," sabi ni Bangs nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). "When I got the chance, I grabbed it. Naisip ko ngang magandang idea na roon ako mag-celebrate ng birthday ko.

"Naging family reunion tuloy. The Pablos and the Garcias were joined together, at na-miss ko yun for a while."

PLAYING DRAMA. Wala na ngang makapipigil pa kay Bangs sa pagtuluy-tuloy ng kanyang career. Matapos ang Palos, hayan at nabigyan siya ng pagkakataon para makasama sa cast ng Humingi Ka sa Langit, isang bagong teleserye ng ABS-CBN na magtatampok kina Judy Ann Santos at Derek Ramsay.

"Matagal ko nang pangarap 'yan, na makapagdrama naman. Sa Palos kasi, more of action. This time, aktingan na talaga, at ako ang ka-love triangle nina Juday at Derek.

"Hindi ko akalain na malaking break na rin ang ibinibigay sa akin sa teleserye. Masarap katrabaho sina Derek at Juday, wala silang kaere-ere. Lalo na si Juday, na noong una, honestly, parang na-intimidate ako dahil sikat na sikat siya, 'di ba?

"But, sa tagal ng pagtatrabaho namin, masaya pala siyang kasama. Very down-to-earth. Napakakalog.

"Medyo natigil lang ang taping namin dahil out of the country si Juday ngayon. Sa pagbabalik niya next week, at saka kami magre-resume," kuwento pa ni Bangs.

Hindi lang 'yan. Join din si Bangs sa sexy cast ng Banana Split, isang comedy gag show kung saan kasama niya sina Kristine Hermosa, Anne Curtis, Valerie Concepcion, at marami pang iba.

ALL CLEAR WITH SUNSHINE. Natapos daw ang Palos na halos magkaroon pa sila ng alitan ni Sunshine Cruz, misis ni Cesar Montano. Paano naayos yun?

"Wala namang alitan talaga," paglilinaw ni Bangs. "Nagpalitan lang kami ng text messages para magpaliwanag sa mga biruan, yung na-misinterpret niya ang palitan namin ni Kuya Buboy [Cesar] ng messages.

"Sa taping kasi namin noon, grabe ang biruan at alaskahan. Eh, puro lalaki 'yan na masasaya talaga at makukulit. Hindi lang naman si Kuya Buboy, pati na sina Monching [Ramon Christopher], Dennis Padilla, at Jomari [Yllana].

"Magkaka-close kami, kaya yung makakababasa ng palitan ng text messages, and don't know where we all came from, maiiba ang interpretation nila. I'm so glad, naiintindihan ni Sunshine ang tungkol doon.

"Sa totoo lang, sa lahat ng ayaw ko, yung masangkot sa pagkakagalit ng mag-asawa at maging subject ako ng selosan. Hindi ko type talaga ang pumatol sa may asawa," pagdidiin ni Bangs.

Ani Bangs, pinalaki siya sa isang maayos na pamilya. Kung may mga problema raw, talagang inaayos.

"Kasi, ang katuwiran ng parents namin, para sa aming mga anak na yun," lahad pa ng aktres.

"Kailangang ayusin ang problema, para hindi masira ang pamilya, at lumaking maayos ang buhay ng mga anak.

"Strong ang family values na natutunan ko, kaya never na ako ang magiging dahilan ng pagkasira ng anumang family," nasabi pa niya.

Natutuwa si Bangs na malamang maayos na ang samahan nina Buboy at Sunshine sa ngayon.

"Yun lang naman kasi ang dapat. Sa iksi ng pinagsamahan namin ni Kuya Buboy, siyempre, malulungkot ako kung hindi maaayos ang problema niya, although it's something very personal na," aniya.

DATING SOMEONE EXCLUSIVELY. Pagdating sa kanyang love life, inamin ni Bangs na she's dating somebody exclusively. Hindi raw ito taga-showbiz.

"Kaya tahimik ang love life ko," napapangiti pa siya. "Naging maintriga talaga ang buhay ko when I was given a break sa ABS-CBN. Na-link ang pangalan ko kay Jake Cuenca, and I felt bad, dahil nagkaintrigahan pa kami ni Roxanne [Guinoo].

"At least, nalinawan yun at naayos. Please lang, ayoko ng love triangle in real life. Hindi ko kaya ang ganyang gusot kaya never kong papasukan," at natawa na lang si Bangs.

Gary Valenciano will take a long break after silver-anniversary concert

May remaining two nights pa ang His Love concert series ni Gary Valenciano sa Music Museum; bukas, May 29, at sa Biyernes, May 30.

Sa ikalawang gabi nito noong nakaraang linggo, halos mawalan na ng boses si Gary at ang akala nga ng misis niyang si Angeli Pangilinan ay makakansela ang show. Pero nagkaroon ng milagro bago pa ang show nang gabing manood kami ng concert. Pagkatapos na matingnan si Gary ng doktor niyang si Dr. Llamazares at ipinag-pray over siya ni Brother Ed de Guzman bago pa lang ang unang pagbungad ni Gary nang gabing yun sa Music Museum, nagtuloy-tuloy ang performance niya at dalawang beses na nag-standing ovation ang crowd.

GRAND SALVO. Inihahanda na rin ang grand salvo para sa 25th anniversary celebration ni Gary sa showbiz at music industry, through a big concert sa Araneta Coliseum this November. Pinakamalaki na raw ito kung tutuusin dahil pagkatapos nito, ilang taong mawawala si Mr. Pure Energy sa eksena.

"For the next five years, I will be going back to school," sabi ni Gary sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa isang panayam. "I will be taking up Music Production and Audio Engineering for Films, TV, and Music. I will be taking that up in a school in Fullsile, Orlando, Florida, U.S.A., just eight minutes from our house there. For two straight years, I will be away, and will be back here. Then, go back again."

Aware si Gary na ang absence niya ay pupuwedeng makaapekto sa career niya rito.

"Pero pinag-isipan ko nang mabuti 'yan," sabi niya. "I will be doing this to help more people. It's not just for myself. I want to learn more to help this industry. I will be doing this for the industry, and for myself, too. In the sense that I don't want to regret giving up the opportunity while I'm still young enough to spend more years in school. I don't want to decide on this when I'm 65," nangingiting sabi ni Gary.

Marami pa rin kasing ibang bagay na gustong gawin si Gary. Nakikita nga niya ang sarili na sa mga susunod na taon, he will be away from the limelight as a performer.

"Magko-concert pa rin ako, pero hindi na madalas," deklara niya. "I'm glad that I still have offers for concert tours abroad. But in the coming years, I guess I have to work with other people in the industry, behind the lights and cameras."

GARY'S CHILDREN. Ito rin daw ang pangarap ng anak niyang si Gabriel, ang magkaroon ng proper education sa larangan ng musika at performing arts.

"He's more interested in production. But my other son, si Paolo, siguro siya na ang susunod sa akin. Gumagawa na siya ng pangalan as a singer. Ang nakikita ko kay Paolo, he may end up like his mom who's interested in managing talents," lahad ni Gary.

Very proud dad si Gary sa His Love series niya dahil pati ang bunso nilang si Keana ay revelation din as a singer.

Makising Morales to do TV shows "Utoy" and "Super Inggo Book 2" after "Caregiver"

Mukhang taon ni Makisig Morales ngayon dahil pagkatapos ng bonggang exposure niya sa pelikulang Caregiver, may mga kasunod pang TV shows na gagawin ang batang singer-actor.

Speaking of Caregiver, nabalitaan naming as of yesterday ay may estimate gross na itong P15 million na kita from its nationwide screening.

Napaka-blessed nga raw ng feeling ni Makisig this year. Tuwang-tuwang ikinuwento nito sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na ang makapunta sa London at ang makatrabaho ang Megastar na si Sharon Cuneta ang mga pinakamagandang nangyari sa kanyang career ngayong taong ito.

"Sobra po! Sobra-sobra pa po sa mga iniisip ko na puwedeng mangyari sa akin," excited na kuwento pa nito sa PEP tungkol sa nangyari sa kanya ngayong taon. "'Yun nga pong makasama ko si Tita Mega, kasi po, yung nanay ko po, kahit noon pa po, idol na talaga niya si Tita Sharon. Hindi rin po siya makapaniwala na kasama ko na po sa movie," dagdag na bida pa ni Makisig nang makausap ng PEP after ng premiere night ng movie nila last Tuesday sa Megamall.

From a PEP source na taga-production ng ABS-CBN, nakarating sa amin na nagkaroon na ng meeting ang ilang TV execs ng istasyon kunsaan, pinag-usapan daw ang pagre-resume muli ng taping for Makisig's series, ang Utoy na for the first time ay makakasama ni Makisig ang Comedy King na si Dolphy.

Nakapagsimula na ng taping noon for Utoy, pero pansamantala itong natigil. Pero ayon nga sa PEP source, magre-resume na raw ito at kung walang mababago sa plano, baka raw end of June or early July ang pag-eere na ng Utoy at kung hindi rin mababago ay pang-primetime slot. Kasabay nito halos ang pagpapalabas din ng Dyosa naman ni Anne Curtis.

Bukod pa sa Utoy, tuloy na tuloy pa rin daw ang isa pang series ni Makisig. Ang kauna-unahang fantaserye na pinagbidahan nga niya, ang Super Inggo.

After ng Book 1, nasundan ito ng Super Inggo 1.5 which is, not really part of the Book 1 & 2, so, most likely raw, mga bandang end of 2008 na kapag umere ang Super Inggo na Book 2 naman.

Sheryn Regis: Recession, calamity, and bickering producers affected ticket sales of U.S. concert tour

Ayon sa isa sa mga guest ni Erik Santos sa nakaraang Erik Santos, U.S. Tour Live, na si Sheryn Regis, ang kasalukuyang recession sa U.S., a natural calamity at ang problema among the producers of the concert tour ang ilan sa mga dahilan kung bakit di nga masyadong tinao ang kanilang concert tour.

Nakarating din pala kay Sheryn ang balita na nagkasiraan daw ang mga producers ng shows, to think magkakaamag-anak pa mandin ang mga ito. Pero sa kabila nito ay hindi naman sila nagpaapekto ni Erik sa lumabas na balita.

"May nakarating sa amin na may ganyan nga raw na nangyari, na kesyo di raw kami matutuloy, 'wag kaming panoorin. Narinig namin yun ni Erik pero di kami nagpa-affect. Ang focus namin ay makapag-perform and mapasaya namin yung mga kababayan natin doon."

She also agreed na may punto ang sinasabi ng iba na namamahalan nga raw ang iba sa tickets. Para kay Sheryn, kahit magbaba siya ng presyo ng ticket kung siya ang magso-show ay okey lang basta ba marami ang manood.

"I think mahal talaga, nagre-range siya from $128, $125. Mahal talaga, e. Recession nga ngayon dun. Sinabi ko nga kung ako ang magsu-show, okey lang sa akin kahit mura basta marami ang manood, okey na, ‘di ba?"

WORKING WITH DOLPHY. Nabalita noon na kasama si Sheryn sa isang serye na gagawin sana ng King of Comedy na si Dolphy sa ABS-CBN, pero ngayon ay parang wala nang balita tungkol dito. Kahit si Sheryn ay wala gaanong masabi tungkol dito. Ibinalita rin sa amin ni Sheryn na may mga out-of-the country shows din siyang gagawin, bukod sa lalabas na ang kanyang fourth album under Star Records.

"It's Utoy [title of the show na gagawin niya with Dolphy]. Actually, di ko alam kung ano na ang nangyari. Na-move siguro because of the casting or whatever. ‘Tsaka may mga nire-revise yata. Sana matuloy kasi Tito Dolphy yun and I really want to work with him."

Ibinalita na lang ni Sheryn ang mga darating pang proyekto niya in the coming months.

"Pupunta rin ako sa Europe, Denmark, Switzerland, Finland. I will also have my fourth album this June under Star Records."

Erik Santos admits to rumor that U.S. concert tour not very successful but successful

Isang buwang nawala si Erik Santos, nawala sa ASAP dahil nag-concert tour siya sa U.S. kasama sina Sheryn Regis, Pooh, Denise Laurel, and John Prats.

Pero hindi pa man dumarating noon sa bansa sina Erik ay may lumabas nang bali-balita na hindi raw gaanong naging successful ang concert na ito ng tinaguriang "Prince of Ballad" dahil sa umano'y pagsisiraang nangyari among the producers of his concert tour.

Ayon sa lumabas na balita, magkakamag-anak ang mga nasabing producers ng show ni Erik, pero di raw nagkaintindihan kaya nauwi sa pagsisiraan. Dahil sa nangyari ay naapektuhan tuloy ang promotion and ticket selling ng kanyang tour.

Sa panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Erik sa set ng ASAP, hindi naman nito itinanggi na may shows talagang di gaanong kinagat ng tao, pero may mga shows din naman silang naging successful at sinuportahan naman talaga ng mga kababayan natin sa Amerika.

"Yung sa Juno, Alaska, medyo di ganun karami ang tao, kasi di masyadong na-promote yung show. Walang tigil kasi yung ulan, province pa yung lugar. Pero okey lang naman, kasi nag-enjoy yung mga tao. The rest naman, they're all okay.

"Sa ibang places like sa Washington, okey naman, we're almost sold out."

Nakarating din daw sa kanila ang kumalat na balita about his tour. But as a performer, Erik says he always gives his best, kaunti man o marami ang taong nanonood.

"Sa akin kasi, problema nila [producers] yun. Ako, di ko na inalam kung ano ba talaga ang nangyari. Basta ako kasi, performers lang kami, ‘tsaka same effort ang binibigay ko, kahit kaunti o marami man yung tao.

"Sa pagkakaalam ko rin, isa ang promoter, pero may mga local producers."

FUN WITH COMPANIONS. May ganito mang balitang umikot habang wala sila sa Pinas, nag-enjoy naman daw nang husto si Erik dahil super enjoy siya sa mga naging kasama niya.

"Almost a month kaming magkakasama—ako, si Sheryn, si Pooh, si John, si Denise—nagkaroon talaga kami ng bonding."

A few Sundays ago ay pormal nang ipinakilala ni Rufa Mae Quinto sa Showbiz Central ang foreigner boyfriend niyang si Bobby Ortega. Nagkakilala raw sila nito nang minsang magkaroon ng business trip sa Hongkong.

Anne Curtis on rumored affair with Sam Milby: No relationship yet, but it's more than friendship

Ang young actress na si Anne Curtis ay tila exempted sa paniniwala na kapag suwerte ka raw sa lovelife mo ay malas ka naman sa ‘yong career and vice-versa.

Kinilala ang husay bilang aktres sa kanyang pagganap sa drama series ng ABS-CBN na Maging Sino Ka Man, kumpirmadong box-office hit ang pelikula nila ni Aga Muhlach na When Love Begins, at ongoing na ang taping ng pagbibidahan niyang teleserye na Dyosa. Sa kabila ng pagiging abala niya sa kanyang showbiz career, open book din ang magandang itinatakbo ng espesyal na relasyon nila ni Sam Milby.

Sa panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Anne sa compound ng ABS-CBN a few days after her two-week vacation in Paris and London, consistent pa rin ang dalaga in saying na wala pa ring formal relationship na namamagitan sa kanila ni Sam. Although she admitted na masaya siya kung anuman ang mayroon sila ngayon ng Fil-Am heartthrob.

"It's really good, we're happy, but wala pang relationship. But it's obviously more than a friendship. No need to rush, we're enjoying each other's company," pahayag ni Anne.

MOTHER'S CHOICE. Naging isyu ang interview ng Entertainment Live! sa ina ni Anne na si Mrs. Carmen Curtis. Inamin kasi ni Mrs. Curtis na mas boto siya kay Luis Manzano kesa kay Sam para sa anak. Sinabi naman ni Anne na this has never been an issue between her and Sam, nor between her and her mom.

"Nagkausap kami ni Mommy regarding that," lahad ng dalaga. "Sabi niya sa akin, pakisabi daw na sorry kay Sam kung na-misinterpret daw nito yung interview niya. Saka nagkausap din naman sila ni Sam, and diretso siyang nag-apologize din sa tao. She doesn't mean it na she doesn't like Sam. She does mean it in a way na mas kilala niya kasi si Luis. Sa nakaraang birthday presscon ni Sam ay naikuwento nito na sinorpresa daw siya ni Mrs. Curtis sa birthday celebration kasabay ng Heartthrobs concert nila ni Piolo Pascual sa Australia last May 23. Ikinuwento rin ito ni Anne sa PEP.

"He invited my mom for a dinner kasi nga birthday niya. But, unfortunately, hindi siya [Anne's mom] nakasama because may sakit ang kapatid ko. But she went to the concert. Ibinigay niya yung birthday gift niya," kuwento ni Anne.

IN SUPPORT OF SAM. Sa pagsimula pa lang ng pagsampa ng libel case nila Sam at Piolo laban kay Lolit Solis naging very open na si Anne sa suporta niya para sa dalawang aktor, partikular na sa rumored boyfriend. Ngayon ay natuldukan na ang kaso nang inurong nina Sam at Piolo ang demanda pagkatapos i-retract ni Lolit ang isinulat niya at mag-public apology sa dalawa. Nagpahayag naman si Anne ng kasiyahan dahil natapos na finally ang kasong ito.

"I'm very happy for him [Sam], although I was in Paris when everything happened. But he sent me a message saying na nag-retract and nag-apologize na nga raw si Nay Lolit. I'm happy and I hope a lesson has been learned here, and it goes for everyone in media industry. Parang you also have to draw a line pag nakakasakit ka na. Ako, I live with so many intrigues. Okey lang naman yun basta may boundaries lang," pahayag ng young actress.

BACK TO WORK. Ayon kay Anne, pagkatapos niyang magpunta sa Paris at London para magpahinga at mag-recharge mula sa sunud-sunod na trabaho, ready na siya ngayon para sa pagbabalik-taping ng Dyosa.

"I went to Paris and London. Almost two weeks lang ako, I met my friends there. Ang saya, super! I'm really ready now para mag-taping ng Dyosa. Super-hype na ako kasi nakapagpahinga na."

Just like Sam, excited at masaya rin si Anne na magkasama sila ng aktor sa Dyosa.
"At least, we'll be together. I'm excited to work with him again. Excited ako for him, it's gonna be a challenging role for him. Pag napanood ninyo, dun ninyo makikita na mahirap ang role niya," pagtatapos ni Anne.

Valerie Weignmann is Evicted from PBB Teen Edition Plus

Three days after Rona’s eviction from Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus, another housemate was voted off by the televiewers, this time it’s the Dazzling Doll Valerie Weignmann.

The 18-year-old Filipino-German beauty received 27.82% of the votes, the lowest among the three nominees. Robi Domingo received the highest with 41.50% while on second place was Cebuana Nikki who garnered 30.68%On the 8th nomination night, both Beauty and Nikki gave Valerie 2 nomination points while Nan, Ejay’s bestfriend, gave her 1 point for a total of 5 points that made her one of the nominees. She was tied with Nikki who also received 5 nomination points.

Tomorrow night, the remaining 7 housemates will again cast their nominations.

On Saturday is the 9th Eviction Night and another teen housemate will suffer the casualty of getting booted off.

Two Pinoy singing talents continue to earn international recognition

First it was Charice Pempengco, now Ellen DeGeneres wants Filipino rocker Arnel Pineda to appear on her show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In a recent episode, Ellen stated the reason she wanted Arnel in her show. "This is the guy that there is no way you could criticize," said the popular host. "I don't know if you saw this, but there is a guy that is from the Philippines and he sings journey songs. He put this on YouTube, incredible! This guy, this is not lip-synching, he's actually singing."

Arnel Pineda was a former vocalist of the local band called Zoo, which had regular gigs in different bars in Metro Manila. They often performed cover songs by Journey, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Air Supply, Survivor, and other popular acts from '70s, '80s, and '90s. (Click here to read related article).
His fame slowly started when a longtime fan and friend uploaded videos of his performances in YouTube. Ellen further narrated, "He is incredible and the guitarist from Journey, Neal Schon, saw this video and he sent an e-mail to Arnel. Arnel e-mailed back and now Arnel is in the studio recording the Journey album. He's gonna be the lead singer of Journey. How cool is that? Let that be a lesson to you, don't stop believing."

Later on, Ellen expressed how she wanted Arnel and the rest of the Journey band be on her show for an interview. "I think I want him on the show. We're talking to him if he may be on the show, the whole band."

Journey is a '70s American rock band that popularized the songs, "Open Arms," "Don't Stop Believing," "Separate Ways," and "Wheel in the Sky."

CHARICE HONORS FOSTER. Meanwhile, Oprah often said in her show that it was David Foster who introduced her to Charice Pempengco.

Last Saturday, Charice was one of the singers who performed in the concert tribute prepared for the said famous songwriter.

Charice was lined up along with other internationally known artists like Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and John Mayer. The show also featured Michael Bublé, Brian McKnight, Kenny G., and Katherine McPhee.

Foster is the composer of the songs, "Tell Him" (Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion), "Through the Fire" (Chaka Khan), "You'll See" (Madonna), "Hard Habit to Break" (Chicago), "When I Fall in Love" (Clive Griffin and Celine Dion), "Stand Up For Love" (Destiny's Child, "After the Love has Gone" (Earth, Wind, and Fire), and "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston). Charice sang the latter during her guest appearance in Oprah earlier this May.
As Ellen remarked in her show, "There are talented people from the Philippines." She's right!

Could Aga be the top choice to play Armando of the Pinay Betty La Fea?

“The actor who’ll play Armando will decide today if he will take the role,” “Betty La Fea” Business Unit head Deon Endrinal told “BuzzBox” yeaterday.

Just out of the 14th level gym of the ELJ Communications Center, he revealed there are three actors who have been shortlisted for the role. The strategy is to announce the actors who’ll play the major roles in the ABS-CBN remake of the worldwide hit.

After Bea Alonzo who will be Betty as announced in a solo press conference, Ruffa Gutierrez was handpicked to do Daniella. He adds about Armando, “Our top choice will decide if he’s schedule can accommodatethe taping schedule.”

But he refused to name him even on a confidential basis. He explains, “You know naman how things can change.” Could this top choice be Aga Muhlach? He’s the top choice in all of the informal surveys.

Sharon Cuneta and Chito Roño felt nervous about CEB's Grade "A" for "Caregiver"

When Direk Chito Roño entered the FAB restaurant of Holiday Inn Galleria last night, May 27, people started clapping in appreciation of his movie Caregiver. In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last night, the director of this Star Cinema movie admitted that he felt tense upon learning that this film was graded "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

"Nakaka-tense kasi minsan, ang grade A kasi, natatakot ang mga tao. So hindi sila dapat matakot sa Caregiver kasi makaka-relate sila. Siyempre, experience, e. Marami silang kilalang nag-a-abroad," says Direk Chito.
Regarding the Grade "A" that was given unanimously by the 12-member panel of the CEB, Sharon Cuneta recalled that she told Direk Chito, "I want to say thank you before it gets crazy, before the premiere. Tatandaan ko sa lahat ng movies na dadating, lahat ng turo niya, bago mag-take, I'll take a moment... Mami-miss ko si Direk..." but before she could complete her sentence, Sharon began crying.

Despite the grade "A" received by Caregiver, Sharon still feels anxious how people will react to this movie. "Ang dasal ko nung una, ‘Lord sana i-bless n'yo yung movie namin. Lord, yung disente lang ang showing sa box-office...sana huwag naman akong mapapahiya kasi ang tagal kong nawala. And I'm a mommy now, I'm trying to get back to my old form...I'm getting there."

Sharon also pointed out that she liked Direk Chito's style of mixing humor with dramatic moments of the movie. The director explains: "Ganun talaga ako. Ayoko ko kasing siyang maging soap [opera] na nagda-drama-dramahan for the take-off."

Earlier during the premiere night at SM Megamall, Direk Chito joked about making the film even more grandiose. "Kung alam ko lang na magiging ganito yung movie, sana nag-shooting pa kami sa tatlong bansa."

As for Sharon, she teased her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan to give her a more passionate kiss than the one given by John Estrada during the movie. "Hon, lagpasan mo ‘yan mamaya! Higitan mo ‘yan!"

The Megastar also dedicated this movie to her daughter KC Concepcion. "Baby, I want you to know that this is for you. You'll always be my number one."

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS. Caregiver is Sharon's first movie in four years and fourth movie with Star Cinema following Madrasta (1996), Kung Ako Na Lang Sana (2003), and Minsan Minahal Kita (2000). In the 15th anniversary offering of Star Cinema, the Megastar portrays Sarah Gonzales, an English teacher who gives up her teaching career to follow her husband Teddy (John Estrada) in London to work as a "carer" (the British term for caregiver).

Sharon said that she was unable to sleep for the past two to three days because she was nervous about Caregiver. Addressing the caregivers and the OFWs whom she hopes will watch this movie, she said, "I hope I gave justice sa inyong mga propesyon. At para naman sa ating lahat, sana maging abot langit ang ating pagtingin para sa mga nagtatrabaho abroad."

The Megastar also admitted that she has been thinking about retiring from the showbiz industry. "Akala ko nga magre-retire na ako. Matagal ko nang iniisip, mga ten years na! Pero ganun, e. [laughter] Ten years ago, ang sagot Niya sa akin ang Madrasta!"

KIKO'S VERDICT. Sharon's husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan gave his own comment regarding the movie. "I was very impressed. It's a wonderful film that is very real. Acting was superb but, of course, I'm biased," he quipped.

Regarding the kissing scene between Sharon and John, he simply shrugged his shoulders and said that it was just part of the film. "Trabaho niya yun, e. More than that, she did a good film. Hindi ko na iniisip yung ganun. Cinema is art and when you look at it as a work of art, hindi mo na maiisip yung mga ganun."

As a lawmaker, has Caregiver inspired him to do something for Filipinos working abroad? "It's a reminder that in the long run, we should be keeping them at home. They should stay here rather than finding work elsewhere. As a lawmaker, ang gusto mong mangyari dadating ang panahon ang ekonomiya natin katulad na rin ng ekonomiya na ating kapit-bansa tulad ng Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia kung saan hindi na kailangang mag-ibang bansa ng mga kababayan nila.

"It's a reflection of reality in our country in the hope that in twenty years' time, hindi na ganun kalaganap ang OFWs. Hindi na kinakailangan at magiging thing of the past dahil dito pa lang, hindi na kailangang makipagsapalaran sa malayong lugar at mahiwalay sa pamilya," says Senator Kiko.

John Estrada happy for positive reviews of "Caregiver"

Masaya rin ang aktor na si John Estrada sa naging resulta ng premiere night ng pelikulang Caregiver na ginanap sa Cinema 9 and 10 ng SM Megamall kagabi, May 27. Nakadagdag pa nga raw sa kasiyahan niya nang malaman niyang graded A ng Cinema Evaluation Board ang kanilang pelikula.

"Masaya! Masaya talaga! Kagabi [May 26] lang nga namin nalaman na graded A yung pelikula. You saw it and then, you know... Actually, marami pa kaming naputol dun, kasi mahaba naman nang masyado. Pero masaya...masaya, sobra!" pahayag ni John nang makausap siya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kagabi sa late-dinner party ng Caregiver sa Holiday Inn.

Maging si Chito Roño na direktor ng Caregiver ay nagsabing magaling si John sa pelikula. Ano ang reaksiyon dito ni John?

"Masaya ako!" bulalas ng aktor. "Siyempre, si Direk Chito ang nagsabi no'n. I think, he's happy with my performance, so masayaa ko."

Ang pelikulang Caregiver ng Star Cinema ang masasabing mag-aakyat kay John sa estado ng leading man sa pelikula, lalo pa nga't he's paired with no less than Megastar Sharon Cuneta. Gumaganap sila bilang mag-asawa sa pelikula.

After ba ng Caregiver ay mas magiging extra-careful na si John sa mga susunod niyang projects?

"Well, nang magsimula naman akong gumawa ng soaps sa ABS-CBN, pinipili ko na talaga ang mga role ko. May nakita pa ba kayong katarantaduhang ginawa ko? May nakita pa ba kayong pangit na ginawa ko? Ako naman, kahit character role, basta maganda, basta trabaho. Alam n'yo naman na maraming artista na walang trabaho, di ba?" pahayag niya.

Para kay John, ngayong tapos na ang shooting at promotion nila ng Caregiver, sigurado raw na mami-miss niya ang mga nakasama niya sa pelikula.

"Mami-miss ko yung grupo. Naging magkaibigan talaga kaming lahat. Especially with Sharon, Direk Chito, naging maganda ang bonding namin sa London, e."

Kasama ni John sa premiere night ng Caregiver ang kanyang girlfriend na si Prisicilla Meirelles, who just came from Brazil. Supposedly ay kasama si John sa bakasyon ni Prisicilla sa kanyang bansa para personal na ring ma-meet ng aktor ang mga magulang ng beauty queen. But because of their movie, hindi natuloy si John.

After watching the premiere of Caregiver, masasabi ba ni John na worth it na pinili niya ang trabaho over the chance to be with his girlfriend's country and family?

"No...no...no... Ang usapan talaga namin doon, after shooting sa London, susunod ako. Pero sinabi ko rin naman na kung may shoot pa rin kami pagbalik, hindi na ako makakasunod. Okey lang naman sa kanya, and it's not big deal naman sa amin," saad niya.

Tila birong-totoo naman ni John na pag-uwi daw nila ni Priscilla ay siguradong na ikukuwento pa ng aktor sa girlfriend ang buong pelikula since hindi pa ganun ka-fluent sa Tagalog ang Brazilian beauty queen.

"Okey naman sa kanya. She understand a few... Pero, sigurado, lalo na mamaya, pag-uwi, kailangan kong i-translate lahat!" natatawa niyang sabi.

Sharon Cuneta becomes more emotional because of "Caregiver"

Pagkatapos ng napakatagumpay na premiere night ng pelikulang Caregiver ng Star Cinema kagabi, May 27, sa SM Megamall ay dumiretso ang cast, production staff, at ilang celebrity guests sa late-dinner party sa Holiday Inn Hotel sa tabi ng Robinson's Galleria.

Ang naturang late-dinner party ay pinangunahan siyempre ng bida ng movie na si Sharon Cuneta, kasama ang kanyang asawa na si Senator Kiko Pangilinan at ang panganay niyang anak na si KC Concepcion.

Kinuha na rin ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang pagkakataon na makausap ang Megastar, na labis-labis ang kasiyahan pagkatapos ng very successful premiere ng Caregiver.

Hindi itinatanggi ni Sharon na ang Caregiver na yata among all her films ang naging sobra-sobra raw siyang emosyonal at iyakin. Ibang-iba rin daw ang naramdaman niya paakyat pa lang ng escalator ng SM Megamall.

"Talagang I cannot express po in words ang aking nararamdaman," umpisa ni Sharon. "Kung paano po ang aking puso... At talagang pagdating ko pa lang po ng Megamall... I had so may premieres for my past 30 years, but I never ever plan to any premiere, mine include, na sa escalator pa lang... I can't believe in one point, yung pagmamahal n'yo sa amin... Parang in my 30 years [in showbiz], itong gabing ito, kahit ito na ang huling gabi ng career ko, okay na po ako."

Pero biniro siya ng PEP na dahil sa ipinamalas niyang galing sa pag-arte sa Caregiver, mukhang kabaligtaran ng sinabi niyang huling gabi na ng career niya ang mangyayari. Instead, another beginning for her.

"Sabi ko nga... Ako naman, I take my things on the Lord. Whatever it is, whatever He wants me to be doing... Parang He makes it clear na not yet or something. So ako, I just don't want to lose my gratitude, my sense of gratitude. Kahit 30 years na ako rito, kahit kasing-respetado na ako nila Tita Boots Anson-Roa, Tita Anita Linda... Parang ako, I don't want to lose my sense of gratitude.

"Blessed ako kasi from the very beginning, mula sa production ng Star Cinema, kay Direk Chito Roño, sa lahat ng co-stars ko na yung iba hindi ko na kilala or ka-close... Para na lang hulog ng langit. Parang lahat tama. Lahat minahal ko. Minahal ako. Naging kaibigan ko. Ayaw matapos. Para ngang nagkakaroon pa ko ng separation anxiety hanggang ngayon," pahayag ng Megastar.

EMOTIONAL MEGASTAR. Hindi rin daw matapus-tapos ang mga bagay na nakakapag-iyak kay Sharon dahil sa sobrang kaligayahan kaugnay ng Caregiver. Isa na rito ay nang malaman niyang imbitado siya at ang pelikula nila sa 6th Paris Cinema International Film Festival na gaganapin sa July 1 to July 12.

"Ako talaga, bawat araw na dumating, bawat blessing na dumating... Like magte-text si Tita Malou [Santos, managing director of Star Cinema], ‘Ang ganda ng movie!' Naiyak na ako. Nag-uumpisa pa lang ang editing ni Direk, mamaya, magte-text sa akin na ‘Congratulation for Paris Film Festival for premiere that we we're chosen.' You know what, it's a great honor, apparently to be the gala opening night movie for the Paris Film Festival, naiiyak na naman ako," lahad niya.

Dagdag ni Sharon, maging sa lahat daw ng mga malls sa iba't ibang lugar—maging sa labas ng Manila—na nag-promo sila ay napapaiyak siya.

Bago ang premiere night, in-announce din na graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) ang Caregiver, at isa itong unanimous decision from 12-member panel. Ayon kay Sharon, isa pa raw yun sa mga blessing na dumating ng araw lang din na yun sa kanya.

"Yun pa ang isa!" sambit niya. "Kanina na naman, nag-text sa akin si Direk, sabi niya, ‘Neng...' yun kasi tawag nun sa akin, ‘unanimous daw ang decision ng lahat. Graded A ang movie!' Sabi ko, ‘Alam n'yo, Direk, ite-text ko pa lang kayo, kasi umaga na ako nagising.' Parang I want to say thank you before it gets ready, before the opening. Mami-miss ko si Direk..." at sa puntong ito, hindi na naman napigilan ni Sharon na maiyak.

"Hay...sorry, talagang iyakin ako! Sumobra pa ngayon!" bawi niya. "Pero mga kaibigan, talagang salamat po sa inyong lahat. You know what, I've never ever done...it never happened to me that I have a movie na ipinu-promote ko pa lang, pero ipinagpapasalamat ko na. Yung dibdib ko palagi, ayaw nang tumigil...Dyusko, ano ba ‘to? Hindi ko ma-describe!"

STAR-STUDDED PREMIERE. Hindi makapaniwala si Sharon na ang premiere night ng Caregiver na yata ang maiko-consider na nagkaroon ng pinakamaraming celebrities na nanood. Kaya itinanong ng PEP kay Sharon how does she feel sa suportang ibinigay sa kanya ng mga kapwa artista. Isa na nga rito ay ang mag-asawang Aga Muhlach at Charlene Gonzalez na piniling manood ng premiere night ng movie niya, even though it was the eve of their wedding anniversary.

"Talaga?" hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Sharon. "Oo nga, they came... Sabi nila maganda raw ang movie. Si Kuya Ipe [Phillip Salvador], he's such a good actor na parang siya ang una kong lalapitan para tanungin, ‘Kuya, okay ba?' Ang dami kong memory sa movie na ito."

First time lang din daw ni Sharon napanood ang kabuuan ng Caregiver kagabi. Hindi nga niya ikinaila kung gaano siya ka-proud sa Caregiver, kung saan nandoon daw talaga ang tatak ni Direk Chito Roño. Ani Sharon, nagustuhan daw niya na hindi masyadong nagpaka-showbiz ang pelikula. Touching ang mga eksena, pero hindi pinilit magpaiyak. Nandoon din daw ang realidad ng buhay, lalo na sa buhay mag-asawa.

Before the premiere night of Caregiver, nabanggit ni Sharon ang anak na si KC. Idine-dedicate daw niya ang naturang pelikula sa panganay na anak, na first time pa lang din nakapanood ng premiere night ng pelikula ng Megastar.

"First premiere, yes... Siyempre kapag bata, hindi ko talaga isinasama. ‘Tapos nag-aral siya sa Paris. Four and a half years akong walang pelikula. Siyempre, nagustuhan naman niya, she's very proud. Well, of course, anak ko ‘yan! Alam n'yo naman kami, mutual admiration society!" natatawang sabi ni Sharon.

Bukod sa asawa't panganay na anak ni Sharon, isa rin sa mga maaga pa lang na nakaupo sa loob ng sinehan ay ang kanyang butihing ina na si Mrs. Elaine Cuneta. Habang pinapanood daw nito ang movie ay hindi naiwasang maawa sa character ng kanyang anak at napaiyak din.

"Si Mommy naman, isa pa rin naman yun. Parang si KC din yun, kahit na ano'ng gawin ko, napakaganda ko! Napakagaling ko, wala nang mas gagaling pa sa akin!" tawa ulit ni Sharon.

"Si Mommy talaga... But you know, she's so excited to come and watch the premiere. And I'm so happy kasi bumubuti ang health niya, e. There are times, she can't even walk. I'm happy that my mom was there, my daughter was there. Tatlong henerasyon kami," saad ni Sharon.

Bagamat ilang sleepless nights na raw ang nararanasan niya bago ang premiere ng Caregiver, hindi pa rin daw makakatulog si Sharon dahil ngayong araw naman na ito, May 28, ang opening day ng pelikula niya.
Isang bagay raw na natutunan niya sa showbiz ang never na maging kampante. Pero aniya, kung may gusto man daw siyang mangyari, yun ay ang suportahan at panoorin ang pelikula nila ng kapwa Filipino—caregiver man o hindi, may kilala o wala man na OFW—dahil aniya, ang pinaka-naging goal daw nila ni Direk Chito sa pelikulang ito ay ang maitaas pa ang antas ng pelikulang Pilipino.

Celebrities attend world premiere of "Caregiver"

Premiere night pa lang ay maituturing nang another hit from Star Cinema ang pelikulang Caregiver na ginanap sa dalawang sinehan ng SM Megamall kagabi, May 27. Maituturing na yatang pinaka-star-studded ang naganap na world premiere ng Caregiver dahil more than 20 celebrities ang namataan ng (PEP) Philippine Entertainment Portal sa loob ng Cinema 10.

Wala pa man ang bida ng pelikula na si Sharon Cuneta ay nakaupo na ang kanyang ina na si Mrs. Elaine Cuneta sa loob ng sinehan. Nang dumating ang anak ng Megastar na si KC Concepcion ay naupo na ito sa tabi ng kanyang lola.

Bagamat dalawang sinehan na ng Megamall ang inokupahan ng Star Cinema, hindi pa rin nagkasya sa dami ng taong nanood. In fact, bukod sa nakatayo na ang karamihan sa orchestra section, sa balcony naman ay halos wala nang madaanan sa magkabilang gilid ng mga hagdan. Kahit nga ang direktor ng pelikula na si Chito Roño ay naupo na lang sa may hagdanan kahit may naka-reserve naman na upuan para sa kanya.

Maaga pa lang din ay nasa loob na ng sinehan ang ilan pa sa cast ng Caregiver gaya nina Rica Peralejo, Makisig Morales, John Manalo, at Arron Villaflor; pati na ang ilang celebrity guests like John "Sweet" Lapus and Vhong Navarro.

Nandoon din si Ms. Boots Anson-Roa na gumanap naman bilang mother-in-law ni Sharon sa movie.

Sunud-sunod na halos nagsidatingan ang iba pang mga artistang nanood ng premiere night: Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu; Bayani Agbayani who came with his three daughters, na nag-stay at sumama hanggang sa late dinner party sa Holiday Inn; Ara Mina; Direk Rory Quintos; Phillip Salvador; Beth Tamayo; ang mag-iina na sina Annabelle Rama, Ruffa Gutierrez, at Raymond Gutierrez with one of Annabelle's talents na si Ehra Madrigal.

Hindi nagtagal, dumating na rin si KC na hindi nakalimot bumati at makipag-chikahan sa Gutierrez family. Si KC ang leading lady ng kakambal ni Raymond na si Richard Gutierrez sa dalawang pelikulang gagawin nila together—one for Star Cinema and one for GMA Films.

Dumating ang leading man ni Sharon sa pelikula na si John Estrada kasama ang kanyang Brazilian girlfriend na si Priscilla Meirelles. Ang ilan pang couples na namataan ng PEP ay sina Julius Babao at Tintin Bersola at sina Mickey Ferriols at Archie Alemania.

Malapit naman na halos magsimula ang pelikula nang dumating ang mag-asawang Aga Muhlach at Charlene Gonzalez. Ngayong araw, May 28, ang kanilang wedding anniversary and they chose to spend the eve of their anniversary sa premiere night ng Caregiver.

Of course, hindi nawala ang bida ng Caregiver na si Sharon Cuneta na dumating with husband Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan. Ayon kay Direk Chito sa kanyang short message before the start of the premiere, si Sharon "ang puso ng pelikula."

Bukod sa mga artistang nabanggit, kitang-kita rin ang malaking suporta ng mga executives ng ABS-CBN at Star Cinema headed by the network's president Charo Santos-Concio, along with Malou Santos, Cory Vidanes, and Chit Guerrero.

It was also an event na hindi lamang mga production people ng Kapamilya network ang present. Ilan sa production at creative people ng GMA-7 at GMA Films ay nakita rin ng PEP na winelcome ng Star Cinema people.

Sa naging short message nina Direk Chito, John, at Sharon before the start of the premiere showing, pare-pareho pa ring emosyonal ang tatlo. Nagpasalamat din sila sa lahat ng may kinalaman sa Caregiver, lalo na ang mga tao ng Star Cinema na ayon kay Direk Chito, "sa hirap at ginhawa, busog-gutom, puyat at pagod" ay kasama nila.

Mukhang sulit naman lahat ng paghihirap ng bumubuo ng Caregiver dahil ginawaran ito ng rating na A ng Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB). Unanimous daw ang 12-member panel ng CEB sa kanilang desisyon na bigyan ng pinakamataas na rating ang pelikula ng Star Cinema.

Ngayong araw, May 28, magbubukas sa mga sinehan ang Caregiver.

"Caregiver" receives "A" rating from Cinema Evaluation Board

Members of the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) have decided to give a grade of "A" for Star Cinema's 15th anniversary offering, Caregiver. This government agency tasked to evaluate movies intended for commercial release recently announced that Sharon Cuneta's movie is eligible for a 100 percent amusement-tax exemption.

Caregiver was shot mostly in London with cast members John Estrada, Rica Peralejo, Jhong Hilario, and Makisig Morales. The Megastar plays a grade school teacher who decides to give up her career in the Philippines to become a caregiver in a European country with her husband (played by John). Other stars of this movie include Boots Anson Roa, Mickey Ferriols, Lotlot de Leon, and John Manalo (who plays Sharon's son). The last movie of Star Cinema to be given an "A" rating was the Metro Manila Film Fest entry Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. ABS-CBN's production outfit will hold the premiere night of Caregiver later tonight, May 27, at SM Megamall.

On ‘My Girl’: Jasmine and Julian cross paths

Jasmine is busy giving a bunch of vacationers a tour around the Metro when she learns that her Tatay Chito is gambling with their rent money again. She finds him at the racetrack betting on horses with not just their money, but with Asyong Siga’s P150,000 as well. Luckily, Tatay Chito wins the bet and doubles the cash. Unluckily though, two thieves soon snatch the money away. Now the two are in deep trouble for losing their rent money and Asyong Siga’s huge hunk of cash.

Meanwhile, company president Greg Abueva appoints his grandson Julian as his successor to manage the Amana Hotel and Resort during his retirement party. This enrages the company’s Senior VP, Tessie, who was expecting to take over the position. But instead of expressing her anger, she assigns Julian as acting president while his grandfather recovers from a recent heart attack. Julian, on the other hand, is determined to hasten his Lolo Greg’s recuperation by finding his long-lost cousin, Hannah.

Jasmine and Julian paths soon cross at the airport when Jasmine does a bit playacting to delay a flight. The tourists under her care are late for their flight so Jasmine pretends to be in search of her true love aboard the plane to stall its takeoff. While looking for her make-believe Prince Charming however, she accidentally falls into the lap of the dashing Julian.
